Tips & Tricks
Always Taste it!
Make sure to taste every ingredient before you add it. That bacon might add enough salt to flavor the whole dish. The mango may be so sweet you have to add extra spice. Also, don't forget to taste your dish along the way to see what is lacking or to counter something that might be too overbearing.
Salt & Pepper
All spices are important but don't forget to add salt and pepper. This can make a bland dish taste a lot better and bring out the flavors of the ingredients.
Read the Recipe
This may seem like an obvious thing but make sure to carefully read the recipe before you start. You may see that something is out of order or you can boil the pasta before you start the sauce. Check the ingredients and make sure they are in the right order and the right amount.
Don't be afraid to substitute!
That recipe calls for some kind of weird, fancy ingredient? Switch it out for something more easily found in your local grocery store. If you don't like a certain ingredient, take it out or use something you do like instead.
I love cooking with my parents or with my boyfriend. It is really special when you can collaborate on a meal and bring it together to make something really special that you both worked hard and put love into. Cooking and eating a meal really brings you close together and maybe you just discovered a new favorite dish.
I believe cooking should be enjoyable and fun! Experiment by recreating your favorite restaurant meal or try that recipe from a magazine. Dont worry if it comes out bad, just laugh it off and order a pizza.
