I was inspired by the movie The Hundred-Foot Journey to try Indian Food for the first time. I definitely fell in love with Indian food and its intricate spices.
I watched this in Palm Springs with my parents. It was brought by our close family friend with whom I used to work for in catering. While it is a little bit cheesy, it is a really cute movie about family and food bringing people together. It involves an Indian family moving to France and opening an Indian restaurant across the street from a Michelin-star French restaurant. The restaurants become involved in an ever escalating battle of food. It will defeinitely make you want to go out and eat some Indian food and the cinematography is beautiful. Make this your next movie night!
So, our next step, obviously, was to go out for some Indian food in Palm Desert.
We got an assortment of items including tandoori chicken and tikka masala. All of it was amazing! The well seasoned meats, soft potatos, fragrant spices, all made this an unforgettable meal. The spiciness of the chiles and other ingredients paired with a cooling yogurt sauce with fresh rice is really heavenly. There were three different types of sauces and I really wish I knew what they were. One was a dark, tangy sauce made with tamaraind; a refreshing, smooth yogurt sauce; and a green, creamy pesto-like sauce. I can't wait to try more Indian food. In fact, I got hungry as I was writing this!
