4 Leaf, located in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles is a little slice of quiet relaxation from the hustle and bustle of a big city.
I chose the Hakaido Milk Tea made with black tea and coffee flavored boba. Hokkaido is a region of Japan famous for its milk. All sorts of products are made from the milk including chocolate, bread, cakes, ice creams and it is even sold in glass bottles.
I was leaning toward a hazelnut milk tea, but that seemed kind of boring, something you can get at any boba spot. The barista was very knowledgeable about the different teas, bobas, and how they affect the flavor. She said about the Hakaido as "hard to describe", which is fairly accurate. It definitely has a strong milky, dairy taste. It is like a very high end milk; very rich, creamy, flavorful yet smooth. The coffee boba was the perfect compliment to the milk flavor. I have never seen square bobas before either, but I really preferred them to the sometimes overly large and filling round boba.
If you are nearby, I would definitely recommend the Hakaido Milk Tea boba. It was very refreshing and was a nice place to get away from the heat and just sit.
