I have decided to revamp my blog and combine two things that I adore: cooking and anime. There are a few reasons I have decided to do this, but I will continue to provide tasty and easy recipes for everyone.
I started this blog almost a year ago, in May 2015. I have learned a lot about cooking and photography in that time. I also got to have some really fun experiences and travels. I started this blog with intentions of having fun and a place to show my recipe creations. I also wanted to share my experiences at the myriad of restaurants I would often find myself at.
Since I have moved to Big Bear in September 2016, my blog had noticeably slowed down. Moving and especially moving in with a partner, is a big adjustment. I have settled in comfortably and feel right at home together with my partner and in my new city. Although, there are a few things to get used to up in the mountains. There are only a handful of restaurants that can be hit or miss at any time, which makes it hard to review them. Being a small town, I also don't want to bash business or create a lot of negative content on my blog. At the same time, you will have exhausted all your restaurant options pretty quickly. There are also a few restaurants, that change hands very quickly or just do not last long. Restaurant reviews were one of the big features on my blog that I was no longer able to reliable or accurately provide anymore.
Some thing that many people may not know about me is that I am very passionate about anime, and have been since about 4th or 5th grade. My mom also introduced me to Ghibli movies like Princess Mononoke,Kiki's Delivery Service and My Neighbor Totoro when my brother and I were very young. Ghibli movies feature food very prominently and in a gorgeous way, often bringing characters or families together.
Throughout my life, I have always love anime and still watch it. Food is a big part of anime. Its also not always Japanese food. Some have featured spaghetti and French style pastries. Food scenes are always depicted lovingly and with careful attention to detail.
Now you may be wondering why I am rambling on about my love of anime and it is because I would like to show everyone how to make the foods depicted in these heartwarming and delicious scenes. I want to create the foods seen on screen and also show others how to do the same. I am often asked how to make classic anime foods like onigiri, Japanese stuffed rice balls. Even non-anime fans will be able to find recipes that they want to make. My goal is still to show how cooking can be fun and easy. I want to be inspired by the things that I love the most.
I hope you will continue to support my blog and discover new recipes. I hope new readers will enjoy the upcoming content and learn a lot.
